NP SoftTech Shopify FAQ
Shopify sections
How do I add a custom Shopify section to my theme without an app?
Add the Liquid file in Edit code or Shopify CLI, then insert the section or block in Customize. NP SoftTech sections include install notes. Paid install help is separate.
Who this answer is for
Shopify developers and theme engineers adding Liquid sections with Shopify CLI or Edit code.
How NP SoftTech approaches it
Duplicate the published theme first. Install on the copy, preview, then publish. Keep the emailed files in case a theme replace overwrites custom code.
Edit code
Online Store, Themes, Edit code, add the Liquid file, save, then Customize.
Shopify CLI
Developers can commit the file to the theme repo and push it like any other section.
Theme editor
Once the file exists, merchants add it on the template without more code.
Install notes
Each package includes self-setup notes.
Online Store 2.0 only
Dawn, Craft, Sense, Refresh and other current themes support sections and blocks. Vintage themes do not use this model the same way.
JSON templates
Add the section on the template JSON through Customize. You do not need a separate page builder.
Updates
Replacing a theme from the Theme Store can overwrite custom files. Use a duplicate theme or Git.
Common mistakes to avoid
Editing the live theme with no backup
Always duplicate first so a bad paste does not take the storefront down.
Using a page builder instead of Customize
Builders that replace templates may hide theme sections. Test on a native template.
Practical next step
A general answer is only the starting point.
Open the Shopify sections catalog or the product page you need. For a pattern that is not listed, share the page URL and the job it must do.
